The trailer, driven by 65-year-old Laverne Hall, of Bryan, parked in the construction zone of the westbound lane after getting stopped by a construction zone flagman. Waters, who was driving at top speed, failed to slow down to avoid hitting the bigger vehicle.
The TDPS said that the woman made a last-minute effort to avoid striking the semi-trailer by swerving to the right. The front side of the SUV ended up colliding with the right rear of the trailer. The collision caused severe damage to Waters’ vehicle and left her with extensive wounds.
The medics transported the woman to Scott White ER in Temple for treatment. Hall did not sustain any injury from the collision, and there is no additional information at this time.
Facts from accident reports show that traffic collisions occur for several reasons ranging from speeding, impairment, recklessness, or distracted driving. Traffic authorities advise drivers to maintain the speed limit and obey traffic rules and regulations.
