But instead of stopping, the Avalon raced off toward the intersection with Kedzie Avenue. It then hit a northbound Toyota sedan in this intersection.
The occupants of the northbound sedan were injured and taken to Stroger Hospital. Officials later reported the victims were in fair condition. The occupants of this car included a 5-year-old boy, a 28-year-old man, and a 25-year-old woman.
When the northbound sedan was hit, the impact forced it into a black Chevrolet sedan, driven by Robinson. She also was heading north on Kedzie, according to police.
Robinson was in critical condition and transported to Mount Sinai Hospital. She was later pronounced dead, according to police.
A 40-year-old man was also riding in Robinson’s car, but he was in fair condition when he was taken to the hospital.
Two men were in the vehicle that caused the accident. They were Maxwell Paxton, 20, and Patrick Frazier, 22. After the crash, the men got out of the Avalon and attempted to run away on foot. However, police officers were able to take them into custody and bring them to the hospital for observation.
Paxton was charged with two traffic citations as well as three misdemeanor counts. Frazier also was charged with a misdemeanor count.
