The Honda driver allegedly continued westbound until the vehicle could go no further due to the collision. Witnesses state the driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, news reports stated.
Davis died at the scene. Police do not know if the driver was under the influence at the time of the collision.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no information on the suspect.
The Palmdale mayor, Steve Hofbauer, posted a scathing post on Facebook, reposted by news outlets,
accompanied by a photo of Davis that elicited a positive outpouring from the public:
“This is the kind, caring life you ended, then ran like a spineless weasel the other night, just leaving Mike to die in the street like some stray cat. He was a good person. You – you coward – are not! Turn yourself in. If you know the cowardly killer’s location, do the right thing, call Palmdale Sheriff. If you are harboring them, don’t dig your hole any deeper by harboring a fugitive felon.”
Police have asked anyone with information to call the Palmdale Sheriff’s Traffic detectives at 661-272-2400.
