A 33-year-old man has tragically lost his life after crashing his vehicle into a Tri-Hospital ambulance on Monday morning in the area of River and Hathaway Roads in St. Clair County.
Since the tragic incident occurred, a number of Detroit-area news reports have surfaced identifying the 33-year-old driver as John Lynch of Marine City.

A man who crashed head-on into a Tri-Hospital ambulance Monday morning in St. Clair County has died, officials confirmed.
Deputies with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched shortly before 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27 to River Road just north of Hathaway Road in East China Township for a report of a head-on crash.
Video downloaded from the ambulance showed John Lynch, 33, of Marine City was headed north on River Road near Hathaway Road in East China Township when his vehicle, a 2003 GMC Envoy, crossed over the center line and hit the ambulance, police said.
He was transported by a different Tri-Hospital ambulance to Ascension River District Hospital in East China Township. Lynch was pronounced deceased Monday afternoon at St. John’s Hospital in Detroit.
Three people were in the ambulance — a 33-year-old man Macomb Township man who was driving, a 24-year-old female paramedic in the jump seat in the rear of the unit and a 67-year-old Port Huron Township woman who was being transported.
The EMS workers sustained minor injuries. The woman who was being transported on a gurney in the ambulance told deputies that she was not injured.
St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Campau said the ambulance did not have on its emergency lights or sirens at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit arrived promptly at the scene of the crash, and the crash is currently undergoing an official probe to determine cause, fault, etc.
Awaiting an official investigation, the loved ones of John Lynch could be entitled to a wrongful death claim.
