The driver was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected in the course of the rollover. When paramedics arrived at the scene, they found Cossey unresponsive and pronounced him dead.
The deceased was the only person in the vehicle, and there was no other vehicle involved. The sheriff’s office believes that the rainy condition and the state of the road may have contributed to Cossey losing control of his car.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing and headed by the California Highway Patrol. The forensic and toxicology tests have been scheduled for an undisclosed date this week, and the public will be updated once the results are available.
Rainfall makes the road sleek, which leads to slippery surfaces for cars, trucks, and motorcycles. It is one of the common causes of accidents, as it causes vehicles to spin out of control or skid while braking.
To prevent accidents while driving in rainy conditions, drivers should exercise the utmost caution and avoid all forms of distractions. They should also ensure they maintain the speed limit, and have tires fit for the weather.
