A Morton High School teacher and two of his friends were on their way to see the Blackhawks play. They were crossing North Halstead Street on February 21, when they were hit by an SUV that tried to beat a red light.
The 47-year-old driver of the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe was driving westbound on Randolph Street. He tried to make a left turn to go south and disregarded the light that had already changed.

That was when the SUV struck a parked car and the pedestrians trying to cross the road toward the United Center.
46-year-old Morton High School teacher, Marshall Tucker, was among the three pedestrians that were hit by the SUV.
The two unnamed pedestrians were taken to area hospitals for their injuries. At this time, they have not publicly released the injuries of these men.
Tucker is currently at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He is in critical condition. His injuries include a large cut to the back of his head, several injuries to the left side of his body including his ear, hip, and leg, and he also has a brain bleed. He is currently in a neck brace for stability.
His wife has updated to say that Tucker is alert, despite everything he has been through.
The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment as well. He suffered a laceration on his arm.
The name of the driver has not been released. Officials stated that they have issued multiple citations for the accident.
It did not appear that drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
Tucker has worked at Morton High School for about four years. This is where he graduated from high school. Before that, he worked as a coach for 14 years at Perkin Community High School.
Tucker is also the driver’s education teacher at Morton. He teaches kids every day how to be defensive against drivers.
