35-year-old David Tankersley was driving northbound on Highway 101 in a Ford F-150. The estimated speed of Tankersley’s truck was 60 miles per hour at the time of the accident.
For reasons that have yet to be determined, Tankersley crossed the double yellow lines in the road. This put him in the southbound lane of Highway 101. This was where he met Moso and his Jetta head-on near the Green Bridge.
This wasn’t the first time in the accident that Moso and his vehicle would be hit. After the impact of the first collision sent his vehicle into the northbound lanes. Driving northbound in a 2016 Freightliner tow truck was 28-year-old Jonathan Balderas.
Moso was once again struck head-on.
The impact from that collision sent Moso into the southbound lanes where he was struck for a final time by 22-year-old Michelle Gallindo. She was driving a 2020 Ford Fusion at the time of the accident.
Moso and Gallindo were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of the injuries they sustained. Paramedics treated Tankersley and Balderas at the scene and released them.
Balderas sought his own treatment for minor injuries that he sustained.
All of the drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
A small gasoline spill occurred as a result of the accident and was handled by Caltrans and Mendocino County Environmental Health.
Traffic in the area had to be taken down to one-way and controlled for about three hours.
The accident investigation is still ongoing. Reports did not indicate the reason for Tankersley crossing the centerline.
More details will be released when the California Highway Patrol completes its investigation.
