Marsh was driving a truck that was hauling logs at the time the accident occurred. He was going southbound on Texas Highway 62. A 2003 Ford passenger vehicle that was driven by a 46-year-old Orange County woman pulled out in front of Marsh’s truck.

Marsh was unable to stop in time before striking the back of the woman’s vehicle. The woman’s vehicle came to rest about a mile north of Farm-to-Market Road 2802.

Marsh was unable to control the reaction of the truck and left the roadway. His truck hit several trees that were in its path and finally came to rest in the wooded area.

Troopers of the Texas Department of Public Safety blocked both north and southbound lanes on Texas Highway 62 near Farm-to-Market Road 2802 in order to begin the investigation of the accident.

For reasons unknown, the Orange County woman’s name has not been released. She was not injured in the accident that killed Marsh.

At the time of the report, there have been no preliminary charges filed against the Orange County woman for causing the accident that inevitably caused the death of Marsh. The investigation is ongoing as to why she failed to yield the right-of-way to Marsh in the first place.

All areas of distracted driving will be investigated to see if the driver of the Ford was not paying attention to the road when she pulled out in front of Marsh’s truck. Texas Department of Public Safety will also investigate to see if speed or weather had a significant role.

The exact cause is still unknown and will be updated as the Texas Department of Public Safety releases information.
