Police at about 12:30 a.m. Friday were called to the area of Howard Avenue and Woodcliff Street to investigate a report of a fight, authorities said. Officers arriving at the scene observed Dorsey and two women arguing in the street, according to car accident reports.
When Dorsey and his companions noticed police nearby, they allegedly got into a vehicle and sped away from the scene. Officers said they followed the vehicle, which quickly crashed into a cement utility pole on Melnea Cass Boulevard, according to car accident reports.
Police removed all three occupants from the vehicle, and they declined to be treated by emergency medical personnel, authorities said. Officers then searched the vehicle, where they allegedly found a loaded firearm that had been reported stolen by an Alabama resident.
Authorities arrested Dorsey on suspicion of receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. The driver of the vehicle, whom authorities did not publicly identify, was issued multiple citations, but was not arrested, police said.
