The identity of the man killed in an accident along Interstate 80 on Saturday, March 7 was revealed. The accident occurred close to 9:00 p.m. at the Travis Boulevard interchange when 34-year-old Luis Vazquez of Fairfield crashed into another vehicle and the center median.
After the accident, Vazquez is reported to have gotten out of the vehicle. It is unclear why he got out of the vehicle, but he was then hit by another vehicle going down the road. The impact from that collision then threw Vazquez into the eastbound lanes.

Once in the eastbound lanes, Vazquez was hit by several more vehicles who were unable to avoid colliding with the man.
When emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the accident, they pronounced Vazquez died. Two other vehicles remained at the accident scene after Vazquez was hit. They cooperated fully with the police and the investigation.
Both directions of Interstate 80 were temporarily closed due to the accident. This was to clear the scene as well as to conduct accident reconstruction.
Before the accident, police were told by witnesses that Vazquez was driving erratically. Investigators believe that the accident may have been caused by alcohol impairment.
An autopsy will have to be conducted to confirm that Vazquez was intoxicated at the time of the accident. There has not been any announcement about a pending autopsy on the victim, however, one will likely be performed.
This accident is currently still being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
