A man sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash that occurred in the Pike County on Friday, September 4. Authorities identified the sole victim of the accident as Keyur Patel, 38, of Hannibal in the recent accident reports.
According to the details shared by the authorities, Patel was traveling westbound on the Interstate 72 when the incident occurred. As he drove near the milepost 2, he appears to have lost control of the vehicle for some reason. The car first went off the roadway and onto the left shoulder. Patel then attempted to correct the car and ended up overcorrecting. This caused the vehicle to lose its balance and roll over several times.

The car finally came to rest in the middle of the roadway. Keyur Patel sustained serious injuries in the rollover crash. It isn’t clear whether he was wearing a seatbelt at the time. The incident was reported to the authorities just after 2 p.m. Once the paramedics arrived on the scene of the crash, Patel was transported to a local hospital.
No other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash. Following the incident, the westbound lanes of the I-72 were closed to traffic as authorities conducted on-site cleanup and investigation. The lanes were reopened nearly two hours later.
Preliminary investigations by ISP show that alcohol or drug-related impairment was not a factor in the crash. Instead, latest accident reports reveal Patel has been cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. This suggests that the accident probably occurred due to speeding.
