The Grand Rapids Police Department has released the identity of the woman killed in an accident on Wednesday, February 19.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Lake Michigan Drive NW and Fairfield Avenue NW.

Authorities were called to the scene around 8:15 a.m. when 27-year-old Kayla Marie Williams was in the center lane while driving westbound. Williams’ Chevrolet Impala ended up hitting a GMC Acadia head-on.
The driver of the Acadia was a 60-year-old Grand Rapids woman. Her name has not been released publically.
After the initial collision caused by Williams’, a Rapid bus then crashed into the Acadia. Reports indicated that there were a total of six people involved in the accident.
The Grand Rapids woman and driver of the Acadia was taken to a local hospital. At last report, she was currently being treated for life-threatening injuries that were sustained in the accident.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. It is unknown if she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
A 5-year-old child was present in the back seat of Williams’ Impala at the time of the accident. The child sustained minor injuries in the accident. The child is expected to be okay after treatment.
The driver of the Rapid bus also sustained minor injuries in the accident. There were no reported injuries among the passengers on the bus.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances around the accident.
There has not been any indication that they suspect drugs or alcohol being responsible. They did say that the stretch of road where the accident occurred is known for speeding. It is unclear if speed was a factor in the accident.
The road was closed off for approximately three hours on Wednesday morning. The accident reconstruction team conducted their investigation and then reopened the road.
