An 80-year-old woman lost her life on Wednesday morning, June 17th, after the car she was driving collided head-on with another vehicle on Interstate 70, west of Altamont, Fayette County, Illinois. The county coroner pronounced the victim dead at the scene and identified her as Karen E. Condron, of Effingham.
The Illinois State Police stated in the accident report that around 11:20 a.m., the woman was traveling west on the interstate in a 2014 Toyota RAV4. Suddenly, she crossed the center median into the eastbound lane, where she stuck a 2010 Ford Edge head-on.

The impact left Condron with the fatal wounds that claimed her life. But the driver of the Ford, Travis J. Stroup, 24, and his passenger, Courtney D. Stroup, 25, both of New Castle, Indiana, sustained what the police described as non-life-threatening injuries. An ambulance took them to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the accident, and there is currently no additional information.
