An announcement from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that 30-year-old Jordan Witherspoon has died from injuries he sustained in an accident on Interstate 75.
The original accident happened on Monday, March 2, around 11:30 p.m. when a Nissan Sentra rear-ended Witherspoon’s Jeep Cherokee in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75. Witherspoon had stopped with his hazard lights flashing. The reason for him stopping has not been released.

The accident forced the Nissan to the right side of the road where it hit the retaining wall along the right shoulder. This was where the Nissan came to rest.
Witherspoon’s Jeep was pushed forward where it was once again hit, this time by a gray Ford F-150.
Reports indicated that the driver of the Nissan was not injured as a result of the accident. Their name was not released publicly.
The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries during the accident and was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. Their name has been withheld for privacy reasons.
Witherspoon was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment by ambulance. He sustained serious injuries in the accident.
Police announced on Wednesday that Witherspoon had succumbed to his injuries and died while he was in the hospital receiving treatment.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help raise money for the young man’s family. He leaves behind a wife and a six-month-old daughter. Witherspoon was also an active member of the United States Military.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is currently ongoing.
