Wallace at about 3:40 p.m. Friday was driving in the 3500 block of Dub Wright Boulevard when he lost control of his motorcycle while attempting to negotiate a curve, police said. The vehicle left the road, striking a curb before crashing into a tree, car accident reports state.
Wallace died from his injuries at the scene of the crash, according to emergency medical personnel. Car accident reports state that Wallace was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Abilene Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Police still do not know what led Wallace to lose control of his motorcycle, and car accident reports do not say whether factors like speed or intoxication might have contributed to the wreck.
Friends and family members started an online crowdfunding campaign, raising more than $8,000 for in a little more than 24 hours.
“Justin was a well-known pillar of the community, loved by many and will be missed dearly,” campaign organizers wrote on Facebook. “We are starting a (fundraiser) to cover funeral expenses and anything else that may be needed.”
