The Challenger was reported to be speeding at the time of the accident. They were in the eastbound lane of West Mount Houston when they executed an unsafe lane change.
The unsafe lane change caused a gray 2016 Chrysler 200 driven by Lamberto Vasquez to hit the Challenger.
This collision caused the Challenger to spin out, where it was then hit by a westbound maroon 2008 Honda Accord driven by Joseph Farrell. Farrell’s Accord then spun and was hit by an oncoming white Honda Accord driven by Ut-Em Pham. Pham had one passenger present in the car, Hue Tran.
After the impact with Pham, Farrell’s Accord continued spinning and was hit by Sarahi Ramos who was driving a black 2007 Nissan Xterra.
As the Xterra hit Farrell’s car, it also hit the Challenger which spun again and hit a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by Saul Torres. Torres had one passenger in his vehicle, his 12-year-old child.
Per the reports, Torres and his child had to be cut out of their cars at the scene of the accident. They were taken in serious condition to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Deputies pronounced Molina and Rucoba dead at the scene of the accident. Officials believe that they were husband and wife.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is currently investigating the circumstances revolving around the accident.
