The report did not reveal the exact details of what led to the victim’s death, but it disclosed that an investigation is ongoing.
The airport officials released a statement expressing their condolences to Barajas’s family, friends, and fellow construction workers. They noted that the Los Angeles Police Department is heading the investigation into what caused the accident, with the assistance of the Airport Police Department.
Cal-OSHA will also conduct an independent investigation to ensure that the airport complied with all safety protocols. The officials stated that safety is at the foundation of all the projects in LAX, and a top priority.
In line with the preceding, the airport instituted a two-day safety shutdown for the APM project, pending the conclusion of the preliminary investigation. The inquiry is ongoing, and the accident report stated that the authorities would provide an update once they have more information.
