Auto-pedestrian collisions are not uncommon in California, and the problem is growing worse. The Cal-Office of Traffic Safety admonishes pedestrians to think two steps ahead and put their safety and those around them first. They can do this by avoiding dangerous road behaviors like jaywalking, calling, and texting.
Wear bright colors when walking, have a flashlight at night or during the early hours of the morning, stick to the sidewalks and curbs, and cross using designated crosswalks. Avoid crossing outside the latter, ensure to look at both sides of the road before crossing, and never do so in the middle of an intersection.
