Sunday morning a Worcester police officer barely escaped serious injury when a pickup landed on the hood of his cruiser.
The officer was on DUI patrol as part of a statewide initiative, and was parked in front of 653 Main Street.
Jimmy Ngo, 18, of 39 Lakewood St, approached the intersection of Madison Street and Chandler Street when he struck a Ford Focus. The impact launched Ngo’s truck onto it’s roof where it then slid 110 feet after impact. His truck then rolled back onto it’s wheels onto the hood of the police cruiser.
The officer was injured and treated at a nearby hospital then released.
Ngo was charged with driving to endanger, driving under the influence of alcohol, red light violation and speeding.
