A man from Pomona, California, with a DUI conviction record, would need to hire a drunk driving attorney following his arrest on suspicion of murder. The police said on Thursday, May 7th, that they had Javan Draper, 45, in custody for killing a passenger in his car while driving under the influence.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, May 6th, and booked on suspicion of murder charge, with his bail set at $2.5 million. The Pomona Police Department, in a press briefing, said that Draper’s actions cost a 23-year-old Pomona man, Anthony Tucker Jr., his life.

The accident that claimed the life of the young man occurred on Friday, February 7th, in the 2200-block of North Garey Avenue. A comprehensive investigation by the authorities uncovered that Draper was driving southbound on the roadway at high speed while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The vehicle the suspect was driving then hit the concrete median on the roadway causing it to roll over into a large palm tree. The injuries sustained in the crash ended Tucker’s life while Draper and another unidentified passenger survived.
The investigators also learned that the suspect was driving on a suspended driver’s license and had a recent DUI conviction. During the court proceedings of his earlier trial, the court warned the man of the dangers of DUI driving, a warning the police said he ignored.
The authorities added that, based on that warning, the suspect is eligible for a murder charge. There is no information on his court appearance, and a drunk driving attorney would be helpful when the man gets arraigned.
