The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the bicycle rider killed in an accident in Costa Mesa, California. The update made to the accident report on Monday, October 5th, revealed the victim’s name as James Blauer, 68.
Kelly Keyes, the supervising deputy director of the coroner’s office, made the confirmation, stating that the cause of death remains unknown with the autopsy pending. The crash happened on Friday, October 2nd, in the 2900-block of Harbor Boulevard.

According to the Costa Mesa Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team, they arrived at the scene around 11:30 p.m. after a report of a bicycle colliding with a tow truck. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Blauer lying on the roadway, and determined that he passed away.
The driver of the tow truck was not injured and remained at the crash site while the officers carried out their preliminary investigation. The police determined that the motorist was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the occurrence, and didn’t make an arrest.
