The crash occurred on Moreland Avenue near Constitution Road.
Deleonardo’s passenger, Reniya Armstead, 19, also suffered serious injuries in the accident.
Georgia State Patrol officials said four men in a vehicle were fleeing from Clayton County officers when the accident occurred. However, they didn’t say why the chase was initiated.
They said that as Deleonardo turned to drive north on Moreland Avenue, the suspects’ car struck her vehicle.
She died on the spot while her passenger was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The four men in the other car were also transported to hospital. They were identified as Sebastian Miles, 28; Rodney Harris, 44; Motreaz Harris, 28; and Brandon Wyldon, 31.
It is not known how serious their injuries were.
Law enforcement officials will continue to probe the crash and more details could be provided in subsequent accident reports.
There has been a reduction in traffic accidents and deaths in recent weeks. The Georgia Department of Transportation estimates that 125 people lost their lives in traffic accidents in March.
This represents a 12.6 percent decrease from the 143 deaths that were recorded in March last year.
The reduction is due to the shelter-in-place orders imposed throughout the state and the increase in people working from home.
Last year, 1,505 people died in traffic accidents in Georgia.
