The police said that they suspected that the man was intoxicated, hence the traffic stop. Leslie failed to pull over and fled the scene in his black Audi. Minutes after, he crashed into a pole and sustained fatal wounds that claimed his life at the accident site.
The medics then transported the victim to the coroner for identification. The man was the only occupant of his car, and the investigators said no other vehicle was involved in the accident. CPD spokeswoman Jolene DeVito said they are not sure of the speed Leslie was driving at.
The policewoman noted that the crash was significant as it left sufficient debris on the roadway, and it scattered debris on all the lanes of the intersection. The latter was closed for four hours while the investigators cleared the scene and collected evidence.
The police did not state in the car accident report if the investigation is ongoing, and there’s no additional information.
