The second 18-wheeler then struck a Chevy Tahoe that was in the roadway near the accident site. After striking the Tahoe, the semi-truck burst into flames.
This semi-truck was being operated by Jesus Salas Rodriguez, a 34-year-old man from Grand Prairie.
The injuries that Rodriguez suffered from are not public at this time, but the Texas Department of Public Safety did confirm that he had died on the scene due to the injuries sustained in the fiery truck accident.
The occupants of the first semi-truck that was parked on the shoulder were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained during the collision. There has been no update as to their condition at the present time or the extent of their injuries.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe was not injured during the accident at all and was only assessed at the accident scene.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is still actively investigating this accident. There has been no indication that a cause for the initial collision with the first semi-truck has been determined. It is unsure if Rodriguez was distracted or just didn’t see the parked semi-truck on the shoulder.
No other names of victims have been released at this time in regard to the accident except for Rodriguez.
