When the paramedics arrived at the scene, they found Carrillo with severe head trauma and pronounced him dead. The driver of the Honda, identified as a 72-year-old male of Huntington Beach, was unharmed, and he stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
The Huntington Beach Police Department is handling the investigation into the crash. They have ruled out liability on the part of the Honda driver, and he will not be charged.
When a vehicle comes in contact with an exposed human body, it leads to severe trauma to different parts of the body that often result in death. When a victim of an accident does not die, he or she suffers injuries that are sometimes life-altering.
Some common injuries sustained in an accident include head trauma that leads to intracranial bleeding, skull fractures, concussions, and hemorrhages. Lower body injuries include fracture to the pelvis and hips, abrasions, and torn knee ligaments.
Torso injuries affect mostly internal organs like rib cage, liver, and lungs. To avoid fatalities, a cyclist should be careful when cycling on the roadway, and maintain his or her lane.
