As Worley lost control of the vehicle, it veered away from the southbound lane and into the northbound lane of the road. The pickup truck then came into the path of the oncoming traffic. It was at this point that it collided with a 2019 Hyundai Accent.

The Accent had only one occupant in it at the time. He was identified only as a Mexican male. Following the collision, the Accent driver as well as Ian M. Worley sustained injuries. Both incurred only minor injuries. The Accent driver was taken to the Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits for further treatment. Worley, on the other hand, was suspected for driving under the influence. He was arrested by the CHP on suspicions of DUI and taken to the Mendocino County Jail.

A number of agencies responded to the incident. These include the Leggett Volunteer Fire Department, Cal Fire, Laytonville Ambulance and Laytonville Volunteer Fire Department among others. The accident remains under investigation by the CHP and further accident reports may reveal whether or not Ian M. Worley was guilty of DUI.`
