SAN DIEGO, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were forced to shut down the right two westbound lanes of Interstate 8 in El Cajon following a vehicle fire on Thursday afternoon.
According to Caltrans, the fire was reported at about 3:59 p.m. at the West Main Street intersection.

An update was provided at 5:09 p.m., stating the roadway had been fully reopened.
It is currently unclear what caused the vehicle fire and whether anyone was injured.
