The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau shared the identification details of a man who died in a crash. Latest accident reports from the bureau on Friday, September 5, identified the victim as Ricardo Rodriguez, 49, of San Jacinto.
The crash which claimed Rodriguez’s life took place on the I-215 on Thursday, September 4. According to the details shared by the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at the Central Avenue in Riverside, just north of the Box Springs Road. It happened around noon and was reported to CHP just after 12:30 p.m.

Rodriguez was the occupant of one of the three vehicles involved in the incident. The vehicles were identified as a Ford Expedition and two tractor-trailers. Rodriguez was driving the Expedition at the time. CHP has not shared exactly how the incident occurred. It has only revealed that a collision between the three vehicles took place in the HOV and fast lane.
Ricardo Rodriguez sustained critical injuries in the collision. He was later pronounced dead by the bureau’s officials. It isn’t clear if the drivers of the two tractor-trailers had any injuries to report in the collision. CHP has also not shared if any of the drivers involved in the crash has been charged or cited for negligence.
Following the fatal incident, CHP closed down three of the four northbound lanes for several hours. Once on-site investigations and cleanup had concluded, the northbound lanes were opened to traffic once again at around 5 p.m. According to the accident reports, CHP had also issued a SigAlert in connection with the road blockage.
