The man hit a tree, jumped a curb on Evergreen near Puritan on the west side of the city where Brewer lives. The man was standing beside his parked car in his driveway. His wife, Charlene, said that the sound of rubber burning and tire screeching caught her attention where she stood in their kitchen.
The widow told DPD that the Journey driver struck her husband’s car, causing it to flip and land on Brewer. Immediately after, the Trailblazer stopped on the street, and the driver came out with a child and entered the second vehicle.
The deceased’s family tried to help him, but their efforts were in vain as he succumbed to his wounds. The man was a father-of-two and a retired GM worker. Charlene said she’s praying that the police find the man who killed Brewer and the driver that helped him escape.
The widow wants them to go to jail for life. The accident report also showed that the DPD had asked anyone with information on the two drivers to contact the station or Crime Stoppers if they desire anonymity.
