A high school student in Haltom City, Texas, died after he crashed his car down an embankment. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him on Wednesday, March 18th, as Colby Etheredge, 17, of Richland Hills.
The coroner’s report showed that Etheredge passed away at about 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17th, at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The teenager had been involved in a fatal single-vehicle crash hours earlier.

The Haltom City Police received a 911 call of the crash at about 5:40 p.m. in the 6800-block of Texas 121, off the northbound service road. When the officers got to the crash site, they saw a white Chevrolet Silverado resting at the embankment of Big Fossil Creek.
Etheredge was the only occupant of the vehicle, which had significant front damage. The young man was still responsive and was taken to the hospital.
The police have not revealed what caused the teenager to crash, but they have concluded that no other vehicle was involved. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and those with helpful information should contact the police station.
Etheredge was a student at Shannon High School, an alternative high school in Birdville district. His death is one of many caused by accidents in the state of Texas.
