EAST COUNTY, CA – A 23-year-old man from Lakeside was killed in a collision that left two others injured on Friday afternoon, local news reports.
The accident happened on State Route 67 in the area south of Scripps Poway Parkway at about 1:10 p.m.

The wreck was caused when the driver of a Honda Accord drifted into a neighboring lane and hit a northbound big-rig truck. The Accord then spun out of control and entered the southbound lanes where it crashed head-on into a Toyota Highlander.
The man driving the Honda was airlifted to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he later passed away.
The 44-year-old woman driving the Toyota was hospitalized with major injuries and her 19-year-old passenger also suffered moderate injuries. The 59-year-old man driving the truck was uninjured.
Police are unsure what caused the initial collision between the Honda and the truck.
