According to the details shared by the authorities, Taylor was traveling westbound on the I-104 at the time of the crash. Garrett was traveling in the opposite direction in the eastbound lanes of the road.
For reasons that are not known for now, Taylor left the westbound lane and swerved into the eastbound lane. This brought him into the path of the oncoming traffic. This was when his vehicle collided head-on with the vehicle that Garrett was driving.
The sheer impact of the collision, which took place at a fairly high speed, left both men with critical injuries. The crash occurred just west of the Kincaid Lake entrance. Once the first responders and paramedics reached the scene of the crash, attempts were made to revive the injured drivers. However, both men succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.
The Coroner’s Office has ordered an autopsy on both deceased. Autopsy results are pending. Once they arrive, the accident reports will reveal whether alcohol or any other form of impairment was a factor.
