A preliminary investigation uncovered that an 18-year-old male from Goodrich driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was heading south from Wildwood towards School Road. At the same time, Preston, driving a 2007 Dodge Charger, was heading east on SR and stopped at the intersection.
The police said that the deceased’s vehicle proceeded through the intersection and collided head-on with the Chevrolet. Both cars were severely wrecked, and Preston sustained extensive wounds that claimed his life at the scene.
The teenage driver who remains unidentified sustained minor injuries and the medics took him to a local hospital for treatment. The accident remains under the investigation of the state troopers.
The accident report showed that the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Department helped at the accident scene, as well as the Gladwin City Police Department. Others are the Clement Township Fire Department, and the Michigan State Police 3rd District Traffic Reconstruction Unit.
Vehicle collisions at intersections are not uncommon and happen when drivers run red lights, disobey stop signs, and fail to look right and left before driving through. Traffic authorities advise drivers to desist from all three for their safety and that of others.
