A white RAM 3500 was traveling on the southbound U.S. 101. As the truck approached Perkins Street, the driver attempted to negotiate a sharp curve at a high rate of speed. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle so that it collided with a tree.
The impact of the collision pushed the engine compartment into the front passenger side, trapping Garrett Taylor who was a front-seat passenger. The vehicle also caught fire as a result of the collision. Authorities were notified but before first responders could arrive and provide help, Taylor died due to the smoke and heat from the fiery vehicle.
