A man is facing DUI charges stemming from a weekend crash in Clark County, Illinois, that left one person hospitalized. The Illinois State Police recorded the incident late at night on Saturday, August 22nd.
The crash involved a red Honda Talon Side by Side driven by 56-year-old Brian E. Mason, of West York, and a silver Jeep operated by Thomas F, Edmonds, 33, of West Union. Preliminary investigations indicated that Mason parked his vehicle on the southbound lanes of County Road 2100E, with no headlights on. The Jeep was traveling south on the same path when it encountered some eastbound ATVs.

Thomas slowed down and swerved towards the west ditch to avoid the ATVs. His vehicle, however, drove directly into the parked Honda, which was not visible without the headlights. The crash’s impact caused minor injuries to the victims. The sole passenger in the Honda, 51-year-old Connie J. Mason, declined medical aid, as did both drivers. A passenger in the Jeep, 31-year-old Ashley N. Edmonds of West Union, received transportation to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, Clark County deputies determined that Brian Mason was driving under the influence of alcohol. Ultimately, they detained him for DUI-related charges and issued a citation for improper operation of an ATV on the roadway.
Major traffic collisions can be averted if motorists desist from consuming alcohol before driving or while on the road. Violators would need to hire a drunk driving attorney for legal representation.
