Both of the vehicles veered to the left and into the center divider. The Honda came to rest against the guardrail.

The semi-truck continued on, going through the metal guardrail and into the eastbound lanes.

Once in the eastbound lanes, it hit a Subaru driven by 40-year-old Ryan Castanera of Hayward.

Castanera’s car was torn into three separate pieces by the semi-truck.

After pummeling through Castanera’s car, the semi-truck driven by Singh crashed into another semi-truck. This semi-truck was driven by 67-year-old Perry Desersa of Auburn.

Both of the semi-trucks came to rest on the south side shoulder of Interstate 80 eastbound.

Shaw suffered minor injuries in the accident. He was taken to David Grant Medical Center on Travis Airforce Base.

Singh was not injured in either of the collisions he was involved in.

Castanera sustained a moderate level of injury in the accident. He was taken to the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento for treatment of his injuries.

Desersa sustained only minor injuries in the accident. He was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center.

Traffic on the westbound lanes was only stalled for a brief time period. The California Highway Patrol was able to reopen those lanes within 30 minutes of the accident.

The traffic on the eastbound lanes was a different story. For almost two hours the California Highway Patrol had traffic funneling through only one lane of traffic. They reopened it once the accident was cleaned up.

They are still currently investigating the reason the accident occurred.
