SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities say a woman sustained critical injuries in a pedestrian collision in the Mira Mesa neighborhood on Wednesday night.
According to FOX 5, the accident occurred on Mira Mesa Boulevard near the intersection with Greenford Drive just before 10:50 p.m.

San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said the 45-year-old female pedestrian stepped into the north side of the street and was struck by a westbound 2017 Toyota Corolla. The 23-year-old driver was reportedly trying to merge into the far right lane just before the collision.
The victim suffered a skull fracture and a pelvic fracture, among other critical injuries, and was rushed to the hospital.
The driver of the Corolla stayed at the scene and was cooperative in the investigation.
