On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 19, an accident occurred in Acworth between a 2019 Toyota Corolla and a 2018 Yamaha YZFR3 motorcycle.
76-year-old Ludene G. Harris of Acworth was driving the brown 2019 Toyota Corolla northbound on Cowan Road when she went to turn left on the Cowan Connector.

23-year-old Errol J. Simms of Acworth was driving his black 2018 Yamaha YZFR3 motorcycle southbound on Cowan Road.
As Simms approached the intersection, Harris made her turn. Just before 2:00 p.m. Harris and Simms collided in the intersection.
The impact of the collision caused Simms to get ejected from the motorcycle. The report did not indicate if Simms was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
It is required by law in the state of Georgia for a motorcycle rider or passenger to wear a helmet when they are in operation of a motorcycle.
Simms was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he is considered in serious condition due to the injuries he sustained in the accident. Harris was not seriously injured in the accident.
The injuries that Simms sustained have not been released at the present time and no indication has been made as to just how seriously injured he is.
The City of Acworth Police were assisted by the Cobb County Police with this accident case. They are still actively investigating the circumstances around the accident.
Simms is still in serious condition at Kennestone Hospital. The police have not released if Harris will be facing charges for the accident. Impairment does not seem to be a factor in the accident at this time.
The City of Acworth Police Department has not issued any traffic violations for the accident.
