Eric McAuliffe, 34, of Rocklin was killed in a paragliding accident just outside the Nevada border on Friday.
Authorities say McAuliffe crashed into a cliff face and landed in a wooded area, where he died.

The victim had failed to file a flight plan which resulted in rescue officials not knowing where to locate the victim initially.
The FAA regulations for paragliding are that an individual must give a verbal flight plan for each observed flight.
An investigation is pending to determine if the accident was due to equipment failure.
