Griswold at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday was driving a motorcycle eastbound on Washington 16 near Burnham Drive when he lost control of the vehicle, troopers said. The motorcycle eventually crashed on the roadway, ejecting Griswold and his passenger, according to car accident reports.

Griswold was not wearing a helmet when he lost control of the bike, troopers said. Emergency medical responders transported him to a hospital for treatment, but he ultimately was pronounced dead from wounds suffered in the incident, according to car accident reports.

Griswold’s passenger, meanwhile, was wearing a helmet, troopers reported. The 45-year-old woman, whom authorities did not publicly identify, suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, car accident reports state.

The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the incident. It is unclear from car accident reports available Sunday whether factors like intoxication, speed or road conditions are thought to have caused Griswold to lose control of and crash his motorcycle.
