The officers followed the man to San Joaquin County and conducted a felony traffic stop after pulling into the parking stall at the Bass Pro Shop. The investigators arrested Moyle and booked him into the San Joaquin County Jail.
The crash report disclosed that the suspect struck and killed Matthew Winks, a 42-year-old Jamestown resident, on Saturday, October 3rd. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the victim near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 7th Street.
The CHP said a white 1998 Ford F-150b with the license plate number 8D44514 struck Winks around 6:50 p.m. The United States Forest Service in Twain Harte located the vehicle on Wednesday, October 7th, and seized it as evidence.
The investigators added that a week before the accident, there was an attempt to run the victim over. They identified Moyle as a person of interest using video surveillance last week and obtained a Ramey Warrant for his arrest.
The highway patrol publicly released the man’s identity late Friday, October 9th, and continued searching for him. There is no information on another person of interest at this time, and the suspect remained in custody as of Wednesday.
