The accident report released by the California Highway Patrol showed that the incident took place at about 4 a.m. at West Avenue E and 30th Street West. Levy, a resident of Lancaster, traveled westbound on Avenue E in a 2014 Scion TC. She approached 30th Street at an undetermined speed and failed to stop for a posted sign at the intersection.

The car left the roadway and struck a dirt berm. The crash left the passenger in the vehicle with severe injuries, and he passed away at the scene. Levy suffered minor injuries, and medics took her to the hospital for treatment before the CHP took her into custody.
In a press release, the highway patrol said that alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. They noted that another life tragically ended in the Antelope Valley, adding that the fatal victim is the 26th person killed so far in the jurisdiction. The CHP urged anyone with information to contact their office on the listed line.
