A suspected DUI driver would need representation from a drunk driving attorney to answer to felony charges. The Petaluma Police Department said that on Thursday, September 10th, Bernado Perez, 51, crashed his car while under the influence in Petaluma, California.
The collision occurred on Maria Drive near Meadow Elementary School, just past Sonoma Mountain Parkway. The police said that the suspect was behind the wheel of a 2006 pickup truck traveling near Maria and Rolling Hill.

Perez was reportedly swerving on the road before stopping at the intersection of the two streets to urinate. The PPD received reports on the suspect around 1 p.m. and immediately dispatched officers to the intersection.
When the lawmen arrived, they found the man in his car and approached him. The suspect then drove off, and a short while after, he lost control of his vehicle, crashed into a tree, and struck a fence. Perez accelerated the pickup after the impact and hit a patrol car.
An officer in the police vehicle suffered moderate injuries and received treatment at a local hospital. The suspect received medical attention to treat a cut on his face. After getting cleared, the police placed him under arrest and booked him into the Sonoma County Jail on a felony DUI charge.
The PPD also charged the man with felony evading of a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon, and violation of probation. The incident remains under investigation. There is no additional information.
