The driver of the Nissan was speeding and traveling east on Woodbury Rd when he rear-ended the Camry that was stopped in the intersection.
The force of the collision pushed the Toyota, causing it to strike two parked vehicles before coming to a stop.
Authorities say the Nissan was propelled through the intersection and struck the retaining road on the north side of the street.
After the accident, the Nissan’s driver fled the scene, but was soon apprehended and taken into police custody. He was found to be driving under the influence by investigators.
Paramedics pronounced the driver of the Camry dead at the scene. His passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
