SAN DIEGO, CA – A driver avoided major injures after crashing his car into a tree in the Mount Hope area on Sunday night, ABC 10 reports.
The crash occurred on Market Street around 11:30 p.m. The driver lost control of his vehicle before crashing into a nearby tree.

The car quickly caught fire and the driver was able to escape through the passenger side window. Firefighters searched the car for other occupants but did not find any. They were eventually able to extinguish the flames but not before the car was destroyed.
An ambulance transported the driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police are planning to evaluate him for a potential DUI.
