Authorities have charged a driver with vehicular manslaughter for a crash that resulted in the death of one person. The deceased was identified as Chap Choun, 41, of Long Beach as per the accident reports. Choun sustained serious injuries in the crash and died two days later on Saturday, October 3.
The crash which claimed the life of Chap Choun occurred on Thursday, October 1. Choun was a passenger in another vehicle when it ran into an accident. The vehicle was identified by the authorities as a 1999 Toyota Solara.

According to the details shared by the Long Beach police, the fatal crash happened at the intersection of the Orange Avenue and the 20th Street. The driver of the Solara was ID’d as Chhoeup Khim, 51, of Long Beach.
Khim crashed the Solara into a number of parked vehicles at the intersection. The incident occurred in the evening and was reported at around 5:30 p.m. Once the first responders and paramedics reached the scene of the crash, they found Choun with serious injuries.
Choun was rushed to a local hospital where he remained under treatment. Attempts to revive him failed and he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Preliminary investigations by the police show that Khim was probably driving under the influence at the time of the accident. He was charged over suspicion of DUI. With the death of Choun, police have now also brought the charge of vehicular manslaughter against him. Subsequent accident reports may reveal what penalties are mandated against him for these charges.
