FRESNO, CA – Police say a driver was arrested following a DUI crash in northwest Fresno on Monday night that critically injured a 13-year-old.
According to Your Central Valley, the collision occurred around 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of North Palm Avenue and Pinedale Avenue, when a black SUV drifted into oncoming traffic and struck a white van head-on.

Both drivers were able to safely exit the vehicles, however, a 13-year-old passenger was trapped in the van.
Firefighters responded and rescued the child who was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
Police at the scene determined the black SUV’s driver was impaired and arrested them on suspicion of DUI and causing great bodily injury during a DUI collision.
Fresno Police are still investigating the crash and urge anyone with information to contact authorities.
