The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Keith Wood, was northbound on Central toward Riverside, and at the same time, a black Pontiac, driven by Williams was eastbound on Riverside. The police said that when the two cars got to the intersection, the Lincoln struck the victim’s car at top speed.
The force of the collision sent the Pontiac into a nearby yard and left the teenager severely injured. Medics rushed Williams to the hospital, where she passed away from her injuries. The police determined that Wood operated his car while under the influence and placed him under arrest.
The man is facing charges of two counts of aggravated DUI resulting in death and one count of reckless homicide. There is no additional information at this time.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a severe offense in Illinois and carries stringent punishments. Offenders who are found guilty are likely to face imprisonment, pay a fine, or have their driving privileges revoked.
