18-wheeler
vehicles are long and usually drive slowly. Many road users consider the
trailer a nuisance, but it is easy for the accident to occur either as a
single-vehicle crash or as a two-vehicle collision.
To
avoid colliding against an 18-wheeler, drivers should avoid the vehicle’s blind
spot. When on the right side of the trailer, pass quickly as 18-wheelers move
to the right when making an exit or trying to enter a slower lane.
Accident reports have shown that tailgating also causes collisions between an 18-wheeler and other cars. Thus, never tailgate the vehicle, as the drivers are unaware of smaller cars behind them. Avoid cutting off the trailer, give it the right of way, and watch out for the places where it enters and exit the freeway.
