Preliminary investigations revealed that the fatal victim was traveling as a passenger in a motorbike, heading northbound on Manor Drive. The motorcycle made a curve on the roadway, and almost immediately, collided with a median guardrail, just north of East Roberts Lane. The two occupants of the vehicle ended up hurt in the accident.
First responders pronounced Deidre Lynn Polson dead at the scene, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office. She was a 50-year-old Bakersfield resident.
Meanwhile, the male rider of the motorcycle, whose name remains undisclosed, received transportation to an area hospital for treatment. The reports described his injuries as moderate.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the traffic collision that claimed Polson’s life. Investigators would try to determine whether speed, impairment by drugs or alcohol, distraction, or an unforeseen hazard on the roadway contributed to the motorcycle wreck.
